From what little i have found regarding ETFE film, i would think it would have a great use in the farming community if it could be competetive pricewise to polyethylene film. I have been trying to find this in 2 - 6 mil thickness in sheets 35 feet by 100 feet, but am only finding narrow rolls {60 in.} that can be bonded at extra cost. The prices i have seen for ETFE film are on the order of 5 times more expensive over the warranted life of the material compared to polyethylene. I would be interested in hearing from manufacturers who could price this at closer to the 16 cents per sq. foot that would make it competetive, or am i wasting my time?
Thanks! Rob Lak {RobertLak@Hotmail.com}

I should have mentioned that i am interested in this as a greenhouse covering material, hence the large sheet size. The main reasons i am interested in this material is: - Longer life in exposed conditions. I have seen warranties in the 10 year range {15 - 20 not unexpected?} - Higher light transmittance... - "Self cleaning" i.e. more resistance to snow buildup, less collapsed greenhouses. - As i am experimenting with a new greenhouse design, one that is insulated with foaming agents when solar gain is in the red, i think the chemical resistance may also be a factor.
Thanks for your help! Rob { RobertLak@Hotmail.com }

Rob,
You might try contacting the resin manufacturer...http://www.fluoropolymers.org/products/suppliers.htm
They sell the resin to the film manufacturers and may be able to point you to someone you missed.

Math error! PolyEthylene was mistyped. It is not 16 cents /ft2 but 1.6 cents. Additionally, i did not compare the 4 year life span to the 20{?} for ETFE. Factoring in the need to replace PE 5 times over 20 years increases the cost/ft2 to roughly 8 cents. ETFE comes in {at the one price i was able to find} at 5 cents. That doesn`t count the labor/time to replace the poly.
So it is definately in the ballpark. Now i need to find some.

Dear all,
ETFE is gaining more and more space as greenhouse covering sheet. My company is specialized in EVA and polyethylene greenhouse films but, even though ETFE is much more expensive, its properties make it ideal for such applications: durability, no-waste, recycle, light transmittance and so on.

Hoping this small article helps,
kind regards
